PRAYER

At Cornerstone we want to be people who live in an atmosphere of prayer. Where praying becomes as natural as breathing. We encourage all believers to develop a life-changing prayer life and to make prayer a regular part of each small group and relationship. We want to help people to develop a view of life in which prayer becomes a first option and not a last alternative.

To help with the practice of prayer, besides our small groups, we offer a number of avenues for people to request prayer or experience it first hand.

Jim Cymbala, pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, in his introduction of "When God's People Pray," writes:

"Our God loves us deeply and longs to be in a relationship in which we receive the spiritual and physical blessings He wants to give us. We, as individuals and as churches, suffer great loss when we fail to ask God for these blessings. These blessings can change our lives, invigorate our churches, transform our communities, and even alter the course of history! Best of all they are available to every believer and every church if we will only pray for them in faithful obedience."

Sunday Mornings

At 8:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings, Shaun Holland, facilitates a group who come together to pray prior to the 9 a.m. service. The focus of this prayer time is personal heart preparation and praying for God to meet with us and move in our midst during the worship times.

Tuesday Mornings

At 9 a.m. on Tuesday mornings, Evelyn Little, meets with others who come to pray for general areas and specific needs. This group brings before the Lord specific requests which may have come to them directly or through our prayer chain or prayer forum. If you wish to be part of this ministry join them at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Emergency Prayer Chain

There are a number of individuals who have committed to pray on behalf of others and to intercede for them. These individuals have formed our emergency prayer chain in which critical and emergency type requests maybe made 24 hours a day and people will immediately be called to prayer. The facilitator for the day chain (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) is Susan Simpson (613)489-2559 and for the evening chain (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) is Evelyn Little (613)489-3174. If you have an urgent situation and need prayer please contact them.

Seeking His Face

Have you ever wanted to be part of a group that experiences God's presence? Would you like to see God move in mighty ways in response to prayer? Then join us at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening for "Seeking His Face."

Each Tuesday evening we meet in the sanctuary of the church to spend time together to listen to the voice of God, share prayer concerns, pray for specific prayer needs and even anoint with oil and pray for healing. This is a time when people may pray aloud with others or sit in personal meditation. Join in this awesome opportunity to step out of the crazy pace of life, be still and know that He is God..

Youth Prayer

Before the Unashamed Youth nights kick off at 7:30pm, the youth leaders and SALT team get together at 6:30pm to get ourselves ready (inwardly) for what God has planned for the evening, and to spend some time in communal prayer together. You're invited to join us for this meaningful moment of stillness before youth begins.
